Before I created SiennaKnits, I was working as a Registered Nurse. Then on a winter’s day I went for a walk and living close to the seaside the weather changed suddenly, it became very cold and windy. I had a beanie on but still I was still very cold and I realized my beanie was just not good enough. I promised myself to get a better one on my next shopping trip. I realized all the beanies on the market were similar to the one I already had, made up of acrylic which makes your scalp sweat and gives you an itchy head, it’s also flammable. Knowing how to knit since I was very young I decided to go and buy some wool and make my own. My knitted beanie was so warm and comfortable, so there and then my passion for knitting was reignited and thats when I decided to share my own passion with the world.
I was concerned that handmade knitwear is not in fashion anymore but then I realized my beanie was so warm and comfortable.I decided to set out to create the most authentic beanies and scarves only for the best lovers of handmade knitwear in the world. It turns out, the road was more difficult than I imagined. I had to find the best wool suppliers in my area and learn a lot more about the latest technology. I persevered and my mission is set out to create beanies and scarves that are made up of wool and alpaca fibers, warm, comfortable, unique, not sweaty, not itchy and a quality-long lasting product.
Through it all, we released our first products and the response has been pure love from everyone who wears our beanies and scarves.
